Water Coolers
The issues facing the Water Coolers market in the UK are directly impacted by the structure of the industry itself. As a large majority of water coolers are leased to the clients rather than sold, the Final User, as defined in the WEEE legislation, is determined to be the leasing company itself. This has a number of impacts – not least that these leasing companies generally are focused on leasing water coolers to the exclusion of any other product. This, in turn, means that with water coolers being their reason for existing, they are far more likely to be aware of the impacts of the WEEE Legislation and to make use of its provisions to ensure that he Producer pays for WEEE removal.
With this heightened level of knowledge at the Final User stage of the business model, it became clear that a structured and flexible approach was needed to meet the needs of members in their field. B2B Compliance has been able to create such an approach with the support and backing of the European Point-of-use Drinking Water Association EPDWA.
Together the other issues facing the industry are also being addressed – these include the impact of the Hazardous Waste Legislation on the transport of any remaining older water coolers containing the ozone-depleting and global warming CFC gases.
B2B Compliance has provided guidance to the industry through the “Cooler Issues” magazine – copies of the articles can be downloaded here.
B2B Compliance provides a simple-to-use system that allows the water cooler producers to minimise the impact of WEEE on their businesses - with innovative approaches to ensure that the impact of the legislation is minimised and that the benefits that can be drawn from the WEEE legislation are optimised.
While our objective is to protect Producers' interests we are also seeking to solve of the challenges facing our members' customers.
Another area of concern is the removal of the old WEEE and the timing of this action to ensure minimal adverse impact on the Members’ clientele. Again, B2B Compliance has come up with a range of alternatives designed to meet the most commonly faced scenarios – but with the flexibility to meet such alternatives that the Member may wish to put forward.
